  while pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.

  in London our electricity substations are powered by huge diesel generators as are most cities in the UK,...
  

  As I mentioned in a previous post, clean power would eliminate that problem.

  Have I missed the promotional materials touting the benefits of electric vehicles that can pull 32' fully loaded private gooseneck trailers at reasonable highways speeds over a 2,000 mile trip? Or the OTR long haul semis?

  I'm not sure where everyone is coming from here but travelling 1000 km in one trip happens on a regular basis in my life and many others who live in remote northern communities.
  

  As I mentioned, Priuses (Hybrid, not electric) can get 50mpg multiplied by a 10 gallon gasoline tank. If that is not enough for you between gas stations then what do you do when you make such long trips? I never heard of a regular car having a 600 mile (1,000 km) range. Don't you stop at gas stations in mid-trip to fuel up?

  I have issues with the current range of electric vehicles. When they can travel up to a thousand km on one charge in 40 below zero temperatures I might consider one.
  

  Traveling up 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) is not necessary for any vehicle. My Ford only has a 220 mile range and many cars get about 400 if they get 25 mpg. A Toyota Prius has a 500 mile range.

  As for temperatures, there is solid state battery technology (In the first stages of research) that can currently operate in minus 20 Celsius degree (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). With all the leaps and bounds that battery technology is going through it's simply a matter of time. Say 5 years?

  I believe there was a change to a shorter study period before baptism.
  

  Study period for baptism in my day was six months. How long is it nowadays?
